We collect no personal data whatsoever. Specifically:
When you use Speaky to read text aloud, that text is processed entirely on your Mac using an on-device AI model (Kokoro TTS). The text you provide is:
An internet connection is not required for Speaky to function after the initial model setup (development builds only). The App Store version includes all model files bundled within the app.
All voices in Speaky are AI-synthesised using Kokoro TTS, an open-source text-to-speech model. They are not recordings of real people. Speaky is transparent about the use of AI voice synthesis in its app description and within the app itself.
Speaky stores only the following data locally on your Mac, in
~/Library/Application Support/Speaky/:
This data never leaves your device and can be deleted at any time by removing the Speaky application support folder.
Speaky does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, payment processing, or data collection services. No data is shared with any third party under any circumstances.
Speaky does not knowingly collect any information from children or anyone else. As no data is collected at all, there is no special risk to children's privacy.
If we make changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of Speaky after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. Given that we collect no data, any updates are unlikely to affect your rights.
